Between Reach and Wicken Fen; GS Gibson, 1868. He thought it was 'intentionally sown...as it is so far from any sort of cultivation.' He found some 15 plants of it. For the plan see Fl. Camb. [there is no plan in the MS Flora] Letter from GSG, 'Saffron Walden 7/9/1868: ..we found some 15 plants of the Potentilla near the spot where I first saw it, to all appearances wild. I think the best way to get to it from Cambridge would be by Burwell, if you go by train to Newmarket, and to follow the Burwell load to the wooden bridge which leads towards Reach, then turn sharp to the right past two houses, the first unfinished, take the first drove past the second house on the left & follow it about two thirds of its length to a gate, & there is the plant in the turf towards the left side of the drove; it is mostly small and getting into seed. I enclose a rough plan of the route from Reach & Burwell.' GS Gibson. Bab.Ms.Fl.963.
