' All with fruit: One bush on SW side of Dyke footpath at 573.656 (the section covered with scrub right up to the path) and another * on NE side of Dyke footpath a little further to the SE. A further bush near the foot of the NE facing bank of the Dyke ± in the region of the above. AC Leslie, 10.10.1981. Specimens from * det. as sherardii var. typica W.-Dod by Mrs I. Vaughan 11.1981.'
One further bush on NE by path, nearer Reach, PJ Grubb, Cttee Walk, 19.4.1982.
'There are also several bushes on the NE facing Dyke bank nearer to the old railway and at least one on the SW facing bank. Specimens from these shown to Dr Melville at Kew (late 1982) were determined as R. sherardii x a canina type rose. They are identical to those noted above. The form of the prickles and width of the disc orifice were not correct for pure R. sherardii. AC Leslie, 1982.'
