First record: Ray, 1660
Caryophyllata vulgaris flore major C.B. Common Aveus [sic] with a large flower. This was found in the fields somewhere about the Town, and brought into our gardens: I do not remember the place.Ray,1663,4;1685,4.
Caryophyllata flore majore Avens with a large flower. We found this in our Garden at Cambridge, which we had brought out of the neighbour-fields, but do not particularly remember the place: Ray,1670:59. [see also Raven,39]
Geum Caryophyllata vulgaris majore flore Avens with a larger Flower. We found it also in Cambridge-shire, but remember not the Place. Ray,1690,89; Ray,1696,139; Ray,1724,253.
